London Mayor Sadiq Khan has shared out £1 million from the ‘Business Low Emissions Neighbourhoods’ fund to five business groups.
The funding has been provided to allow businesses to reduce their emissions and pollution outputs.
The plan is for the businesses to provide zero emission delivery services, clean up staff walking routes and campaign against anti-idling.
The boroughs of Camden, Fulham, Hammersmith, Southwark and Westminster are all involved and are working in partnership with the groups in support of the proposals.
Mr Khan stated: “London’s toxic air is a public health crisis and I’m delighted to be working with businesses across the capital to help rid the city of these pollution hotspots.
“Targeted local initiatives, such as Low Emission Neighbourhoods, are a great weapon in the fight against air pollution and this action we are taking is vital for safeguarding London’s health.”
