Catching up with our Directors

business-blog-page-4

We recently caught up with Directors Terry Day and Dale Marriott to hear what they had to say about the culture and employees at Crown Gas & Power, and to find out more about how they got to where they are today.

We are proud of the culture that has been built at Crown Gas & Power since its inception and it’s great to see this acknowledged by the Directors who also see first-hand how the teams encourage each other every day to be the best they can be – at work and in their personal lives. And thanks to Terry’s response to his final question, we now can’t get the image of him dressed as Freddie Mercury out of our heads…

Terry Day, Director at Crown Gas & Power

What do you feel is the biggest strength of our company right now?

That’s easy – it’s the people that work here. They are enthusiastic, dedicated, driven and loyal. Each day they bring a positive energy that continues to push Crown Gas & Power forward. I know it sounds cliché but the team really does work hard and then play hard.

You say the team ‘work hard and then play hard’ – tell us more about this?

Many of the people that work for Crown Gas & Power form lasting friendships. Each team has their own targets and everyone does what they can to achieve them, not just for themselves but also for their team. I see them encourage each other not only to achieve the targets but to surpass them – this forms great comradery that is great to see.

As a company, we enjoy acknowledging these efforts with regular paid for events like a yearly overnight stay at Chester Races.

How did you get to where you are today?

Hard work, dedication, resilience and self-belief. A piece of advice I would give anyone starting their career is to find something you love doing, work hard at it and believe in yourself. You will make mistakes but learn from them and move on.

Surround yourself with like-minded people who give you the opportunity to develop and push yourself every day.

You find yourself on stage at Manchester Arena. What song do you sing?

Just for the pure energy of it and a song that everyone can join in, it has to be Queen – Don’t Stop Me Now!

Dale Marriott, Director at Crown Gas & Power

What is your main goal for Crown Gas & Power?

To be the supplier with the best reputation within the market for service, and at the forefront of providing sustainable choices for customers.

What does the company culture look like to you?

Diversity is what drives our success. By taking the experiences and expertise of a culturally diverse workforce, we are able to make informed and successful business decisions.

We all have something to contribute and we promote a culture where every opinion counts.

How did you get to where you are today?

Lots of hard work! Never quitting no matter what challenges I faced and proving to my former employers that I was worthy of a promotion by educating myself about my industry and always welcoming new challenges. Self-drive counts for an awful lot.

If you could be someone else for a day, who would it be and why?

I could easily say a Formula 1 driver or a famous actor but the truth is that’s a fantasy and doesn’t add anything to my everyday life, which I would be returning to after that one day.

I am a big believer that you should do things that promote achievement, and treating others as you would want to be treated yourself. So I would probably look inside my kids’ heads to check they are ok – just for five minutes. I couldn’t take any longer, that would be enough for me.
