Jack - Junior Accounts Assistant

Jack is our new junior accounts assistant and has joined us on an apprenticeship scheme through Bury College's Employment Gateway.

This latest interview comes after just 4 weeks at Crown Gas and Power.

What did you do before you joined Crown Gas & Power?

I attended Bury Grammar Sixth Form where I studied Economics, Geography and Psychology.

During the summer I worked at Bury College enrolling students on to their courses for the next academic year.

What were your initial thoughts on the company and role before your interview?

I was just looking for accountancy apprenticeships generally through Employment Gateway at Bury College, and the apprenticeship that Crown Gas and Power were offering to me caught my eye.

Why did the apprenticeship at Crown Gas and Power appeal to you?

Purely from my interview, I could tell that there was a young feel to the office and there were a number of people with similar personalities to me. Stories from previous apprentices helped to convince me this was the right place to join.

How did you prepare for the interview?

I researched the role and the company from the job description and found as much info on the company as possible.

Thoughts on the interview process?

The interview was primarily experience based. I have work experience from an accountancy firm in Manchester. My interviewers were friendly and instantly made me feel welcome and relaxed.

Thoughts immediately after the interview?

I was made to feel confident and that I had performed well in my interview, I was happy that I had been made to feel so welcome. It definitely highlighted the company in a positive way.

How was your first day?

I wasn’t nervous on my first day I was more excited than anything. I was again made to feel welcome and didn’t expect the company to be so big in terms of the number of companies associated with the Crown Group.

Thoughts now you are 1-month in?

Crown is still nice and welcoming, everyone is treated the same even from the directors. Everyone is essentially equal and on a level playing field.

Your future ambitions (within the company and the role)?

I want to complete my AAT level 4 and continue to grow further in my accountancy career.

Ultimate career goal?

My ultimate goal is to become a fully qualified accountant.

Megan says:
Amazing! I love my job!

Megan - Site Works Co-ordinator

Our next interview comes from Megan who is part of our Site Works team as Co-Ordinator, and discusses her experience 4 months into the role at Crown Gas & Power so far.

What did you do before you joined Crown Gas & Power?

I went to Liverpool Hope University for 3 years and studied English Literature.

Initial thoughts on the company and the role before coming for the interview?

I knew of the company as I live locally and Crown are well known in the local area.

Why did the role at Crown Gas and Power appeal to you?

I wanted a new challenge, new experiences and wanted to learn new things. I am naturally a people person and so working in a busy environment speaking to different customers comes naturally to me.

How did you prepare for the interview?

I researched the company and the role thoroughly and looked into what Site Works specifically consisted of, and the jobs they carried out.

Thoughts on the interview process?

I was made to feel very comfortable and my nerves were instantly put at ease. I felt that I could ask any questions that I wanted, and I was given plenty of information about the role and the company. I was challenged with a number of questions but I was able to turn these into positives.

What were your thoughts after the interview?

I immediately thought the interview went well and had been made to feel confident that I could succeed at Crown.

How was your first day?

I was naturally very nervous to start with, but I was very welcomed. The company ended up being much bigger than I originally thought. But I was assured and part of the family from the start, especially on my Site Works team.

How are you finding it 4 months in?

Amazing! I love my job, every day and every job is different, and I thoroughly enjoy coming to work every day. I find it both challenging and rewarding at the same time. I like having the chance to overcome obstacles every day, but it is all part of the fun.

Your future ambitions (within the company and the role)?

I want to work my way up to being a leader within my Site Works team.

Ultimate career goal?

Ultimately, I just want to be successful and happy.
