Crown Gas and Power sell Renewable Gas Guarantee of Origins (RGGO’s) and are proud to be part of the Green Gas Certification Scheme, which ensures the green gas we supply is securely tracked through the supply chain. Our green gas product is not to be confused with carbon offsetting; our green gas is biomethane.

Through a process called anaerobic digestion, we can create biomethane; a gas with similar characteristics as its fossil fuel equivalent. The biomethane is added to the existing natural gas network for use in homes, businesses and industrial work countrywide. Any waste from the process is put back on the land as organic fertiliser.
Absolutely! You will receive a certificate showing the green gas credits we have retired on your behalf as well as the ability to login and see extra details regarding the green gas you have purchased, such as production date and method.

When we extract and burn gas from fossil fuels, we’re reintroducing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere that has been locked away for millions of years causing climate damage but biomethane is produced from organic materials that absorbed carbon dioxide while they grew. This means when green gas is burned, it only releases that same amount of carbon dioxide. Since it doesn’t add more CO2 to the earth’s atmosphere, it’s carbon-neutral.
It’s no secret that we’re very quickly depleting the earth of its natural fossil fuel collection. The process of creating green gas is completely renewable and sustainable while we have animal and food waste.
All green gas is tracked from production to consumption. The Green Gas Certification Scheme currently governs the process and allows you to view your certificate and find out more information such as the location and method of extraction.
